
Region 9 Statewide Mentorship

Program Purpose
The New Mexico Office of Special Education (OSE), in partnership with Region 9 Education Cooperative (REC9), primary purpose is to provide a support system for first through third-year teachers. This is achieved through high-quality professional development and mentoring, ensuring an effective transition into the teaching field. This focus enhances the retention of capable teachers in the classroom, ensuring academic success for our students.

Fall Important Dates
- 2025–2026 Region 9 Mentorship Program Survey: Submit by September 30, 2025
- Fall Contact Log: Submit by December 12, 2025
- Fall Peer Observation Form (Mentor Observation of Mentee): Submit by December 12, 2025
- Fall Professional Development Log: Submit by December 12, 2025
Other Important Paperwork
- Assurances – This is required prior to the payment of the stipend.
Spring Important Dates
- Spring Contact Log: Submit by May 8, 2026
- Spring Peer Observation Form: Submit by May 8, 2026
- Spring Professional Development Log: Submit by May 8, 2026
Mentees
Fall Important Dates
- Fall Professional Development Log: Submit by December 12, 2025
- 2024–2025 Region 9 Statewide Mentorship Program Survey: Submit by September 30, 2025
- Contact Log and Observation will be submitted by Mentor by: December 12, 2025
Spring Important Dates
- Spring Professional Development Log: Submit by May 8, 2026
- Spring Contact Log: Mentor will submit by May 8, 2026
- End of Year Survey: Submit by May 8, 2026
