Region 9 Statewide Mentorship

Program Purpose

The New Mexico Office of Special Education (OSE), in partnership with Region 9 Education Cooperative (REC9), primary purpose is to provide a support system for first through third-year teachers. This is achieved through high-quality professional development and mentoring, ensuring an effective transition into the teaching field. This focus enhances the retention of capable teachers in the classroom, ensuring academic success for our students.

Mentors

Fall Important Dates

  • 2026–2027 Region 9 Mentorship Program Survey: Submit by October 16, 2026
  • Fall Contact Log: Submit by December 11, 2026
  • Fall Peer Observation Form (Mentor Observation of Mentee): Submit by December 11, 2026
  • Fall Professional Development Log: Submit by December 11, 2026

Other Important Paperwork

  • Assurances – This is required prior to the payment of the stipend.

Spring Important Dates

  • Spring Contact Log: Submit by May 7, 2027
  • Spring Peer Observation Form: Submit by May 7, 2027
  • Spring Professional Development Log: Submit by May 7, 2027

Mentees

Fall Important Dates

  • 2026–2027 Region 9 Statewide Mentorship Program Survey: Submit by October 16, 2026
  • Contact Log and Observation will be submitted by the Mentor by: December 11, 2026
