NMRECA is Changing

NMRECA is changing, two of our Cooperatives will be experiencing leadership change. David Willden from REC 8 in Artesia will be retiring in August. REC 8 has already named a replacement and we welcome Kelley Alsup as the new Director there as Dave steps away. Our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Dave as he ventures into a new chapter. Scott McMath from REC 6 in Portales will be retiring at the end of July. REC 6 is advertising for a new director, we are optimistic that their board finds a suitable replacement to continue the work REC 6 provides to their community and the State of NM. We wish Scott good luck as well.

The Coordinating Council for the Regional Educational Cooperative 6 is seeking to fill the position of executive director with a start date of on or before July 1, 2020. About the opportunity: Responsible for the efficient operation of the organization, compliance with REC 6 policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and providing the highest quality of services to member school districts. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education from an approved accredited four-year institution.
  • Current Education Administrative License issued by the NM Public Education Department

Experience:

  • Five years of experience in a public school setting.
  • Supervise and manage staff.
  • Experience in special education is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and expectations:

  • High ethical and moral standards.
  • Knowledge of education in New Mexico.
  • Knowledge of federal and state education laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of public-school budgeting and reporting.
  • Skilled at directing and motivating staff.
  • Ability to work with a small staff and public-school districts of various sizes.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to public school districts for their local efforts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Extensive travel throughout the state of New Mexico.

Salary Range:

  • Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
